Hi everyone! My name is Lily. I'm a 16-year-old high school student who enjoys exploring the uniqueness from various cultures and observing the growth of human society.
My story
I find it exciting to just read history stories that were written by people from hundreds of years ago. Stories from different cultures provide me with an astonishing fact of how big the world is. Ancient stories taught me how long the history is, and this point of view helped me with my mental health. I started to stop putting too much attention on things that make me stressed and give me anxiety, because they are nothing compared to the long history.
Myths also teach me life lessons that I could not learn from daily course work. One day, I read the myth about Apollo. From the story, I learned how hard it was for ancient people to just get the fire, and how hard it was to keep the fire burning. The myth about Apollo makes me consider how much our ancestors have done and have sacrificed for the improvements of human society. Since that day, I am fascinated with mythological stories.
In addition, from many myths, I found that even Godly characters who have super power still have to face the adversities, and they eventually overcome difficulties with perseverance, which is what I have in common with them. I started to put myself in the story when I face challenges, and I would do my utmost to finish the task strong.
Something that I have to mention is that I love studying psychology. From many myths, I discovered many common places of human beings at psychological level. Take something that I discovered from the stories of Centaur, Sphinx, and Nuwa for example. People always generated the God figure mainly for the purpose of worshiping and protection. They want to treat nature with fear and respect. Etc. Every Time I find new discoveries, I feel a sense of achievement.
